Scaling ceiling
More activity no longer creates the next level, and it is unclear whether the constraint is market, product, organization or founder role.

I work directly with founders when the business has hit a ceiling, a pivot is on the table, an important decision keeps returning or the founder's role no longer fits the company.

WHEN FOUNDERS COME
A founder advisor is useful when the question crosses ordinary functional boundaries. The numbers may point to growth. The team may point to structure. The founder may feel that the current direction is wrong. The real constraint can sit in the relationship between all three.
More activity no longer creates the next level, and it is unclear whether the constraint is market, product, organization or founder role.
You know the decision matters, but useful work keeps forming around it while the decision itself remains untouched.
Several directions look plausible and each carries a real cost. The team needs movement before certainty exists.
The company changed faster than the role that built it. The question is no longer only how to perform better, but what role the business and founder now need.
THE DISTINCTION
These categories overlap, but they are not interchangeable. The useful distinction is not status. It is where the work sits and who retains the decision.
Usually diagnoses a defined business problem and recommends a solution. Useful when the scope can be separated from the founder.
Usually works through questions and reflection, often with less direct operating prescription. Useful when the primary work is personal development.
Temporarily owns a function and executes inside the organization. Useful when the company needs capacity and accountable delivery.
I work as a Founder Counterpart: an independent person able to move between the founder, the business and the decision. I bring opinions and operating experience, but I do not take the founder's agency away. The goal is better judgement and effective action, not obedience to my plan.
HOW THE WORK STARTS
One focused conversation for a difficult situation. We separate symptoms, assumptions and noise from the question that actually needs an answer.
Focused work around a concrete change: a pivot, scaling ceiling, role change, business-model shift, team transition or strategic choice that needs movement.
An ongoing private relationship for moments when you need a person you can think with while building. Regular conversations, with deeper involvement when the situation requires it.
